The Ink Business Preferred charges a $95 annual fee and earns 3X on $150,000 in combined business categories each year. The 100,000-point welcome bonus is worth $1,800 at our 1.8-cent Ultimate Rewards valuation, plus the card adds primary rental car coverage, cell phone protection, and complimentary DashPass.
The Chase Ink Business Preferred is a $95-annual-fee business card built around transferable Ultimate Rewards points. It earns 3 points per dollar on travel, shipping, advertising, and internet/cable/phone services on the first $150,000 spent each account anniversary year, plus 5 points per dollar on Lyft rides through September 30, 2027. The current welcome offer is 100,000 bonus points after $8,000 in purchases within the first 3 months.
- 100,000 bonus points after $8,000 spend in the first 3 months; worth about $1,800 at our 1.8-cent Ultimate Rewards valuation. - 3X points on travel, shipping, social media/search advertising, and internet/cable/phone on the first $150,000 per account anniversary year. - 5X points on Lyft rides through September 30, 2027. - 1:1 transfers to 14 airline and hotel partners; World of Hyatt moves to a 4:3 ratio starting October 1, 2026. - Cell phone protection up to $1,000 per claim with a $100 deductible and primary rental car coverage up to $60,000. - Complimentary DashPass for at least 12 months plus $10 off one non-restaurant DoorDash order per month through 2027. - No foreign transaction fees and free employee cards. - $95 annual fee is not waived the first year. - No bonus categories for dining or groceries.
Consider the Ink Business Preferred if:
- Your business spends heavily on travel, shipping, digital advertising, or telecom services. - You can comfortably spend $8,000 in 3 months to earn the welcome bonus. - You already hold or plan to hold a Chase Sapphire card to pool points and maximize transfer value. - You want primary rental car coverage for business rentals without paying for the rental company's CDW. - You pay a monthly cell phone bill large enough that $1,000-per-claim protection is meaningful. - You need free employee cards that earn at the full rate.
E-commerce businesses, digital marketers, and companies with regular travel expenses tend to extract the most value because these categories hit the 3X multiplier directly.
Skip the Ink Business Preferred if:
- Your business spending is concentrated in dining, groceries, or general office supplies without significant shipping or advertising spend. - You prefer simple cash back over transferable points and partner award bookings. - The $8,000 minimum spend in 3 months is a stretch for your business cash flow. - You exceed $150,000 annually in the 3X categories and would lose most of the bonus after the cap. - You do not have or want a Chase Sapphire card to unlock higher redemption value.
Businesses that want premium perks like airport lounge access or annual travel credits will not find them here.
Ultimate Rewards is Chase's transferable points program. With the Ink Business Preferred, you can transfer points to 14 airline and hotel partners, mostly at a 1:1 ratio. We value Ultimate Rewards at 1.8 cents per point for transferable redemptions, though actual value ranges from 1 cent for cash back to 2 or more cents for premium cabin or Hyatt awards.
Key mechanics:
- Transfers require a premium Chase card; the Ink Business Preferred qualifies on its own. - Points do not expire as long as the account remains open. - World of Hyatt transfers change to a 4:3 ratio starting October 1, 2026, reducing Hyatt value unless you transfer before then. - The Chase Travel Portal redemption floor varies by linked card, but transfers to partners usually beat it.

Cash back redemptions return only 1 cent per point. Booking travel through the Chase Travel Portal can be worth up to 2 cents per point with the Chase Sapphire Reserve for Points Boost redemptions. Transferring points to airline or hotel partners can deliver even higher value, up to 7-10 cents per point.
The most efficient way to redeem Chase points is to transfer them to travel partners. Transfers deliver outsized value, often well more than 2 cents per point. Booking through the Chase Travel Portal is easier, but learning partner awards maximizes long-term value and flexibility.
The two Chase Sapphire Reserve cards, personal and business, offer the biggest signup bonuses and most perks, but they also carry higher annual fees. The Chase Sapphire Preferred is an excellent alternative for travelers who want strong value and transferable points with a lower fee.

The program rewards planning. If you will only redeem for cash back or statement credits, the points are worth just 1 cent each and this card loses much of its advantage.
The Ink Business Preferred is the only no-fee-adjacent Ink card that enables direct transfers to Chase travel partners. The Ink Business Cash and Ink Business Unlimited earn points that can be moved to the Preferred or a Sapphire card for transfer access.
Common pairings:
- Ink Business Cash: 5X on office supplies and internet/cable/phone on the first $25,000, plus 2X on gas and dining.
Move those points to the Preferred for 1:1 transfers.
- Ink Business Unlimited: 1.5X on everything. Pair with the Preferred for a simple, transferable base earner. - Chase Sapphire Reserve or Preferred: Pool points from the Ink Preferred to a Sapphire card for higher portal
redemption floors and broader transfer options.
The Ink Business Preferred also does not count against your personal 5/24 status, making it a useful way to keep earning Ultimate Rewards without limiting personal card applications.
The Ink Business Preferred makes sense if your business naturally spends in the 3X categories. At $150,000 in combined annual bonus spending, you earn 450,000 points per year, worth about $8,100 at 1.8 cents each. Against a $95 annual fee, that is a strong return even before counting the welcome bonus.
The math is less compelling if your business spending is mixed or low in the bonus categories. After the $150,000 cap, everything drops to 1X, so heavy spenders in these categories may outgrow the card. The $8,000 welcome bonus spend is also substantial; do not stretch your cash flow to hit it.
For our household, the Ink Business Preferred is a core business card because the shipping and advertising spend is real, and the points feed directly into the Chase Ultimate Rewards ecosystem. It is not a premium perks card, but it is one of the most efficient ways for a small business to earn transferable points at a low annual fee.
